    Snowshoeing is good at Hartley Field this week. A friend and I were out Thursday. Though the wind was bone-chilling, the sunshine was glorious. We had the most fun on our return, cutting designs in the wind-swept snow on the pond.

    Ski camp was held this week at Chester Bowl and youth ski lessons are underway. It was amazing to watch young non-skiers become budding beginners, able to take the chairlift up and ski down the big hill with the help of slightly older ski cadets. This is a wonderful program on a variety of levels.

    A sign hangs on a door in the basement of Chester Park United Methodist Church. “TO SANCTUARY” it reads in crisp blue letters on a background of white.

    On election days, one of four election judge stations is set up directly across from this sign.

    I really appreciate that the sign doesn’t say, “TO THE SANCTUARY.”
